Hope for Atlanta

Engaging and Equipping the church for community renewal one neighborhood at a time.

We are Christians and  agree with the Lausanne Covenant (click here to read). As Paul, led by the Holy Spirit, summarizes the Christian life: “I consider everything as loss compared to the surpassing greatness of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord, for whose sake I have lost all things. I consider them rubbish, that I may gain Christ and be found in him, not having a righteousness of my own that comes from the law, but that which is through faith in Christ—the righteousness that comes from God and is by faith.” Phil. 3:8,9

Hope for Atlanta began in 2002 with a vision for linking churches with mercy ministries in the city of Atlanta. Church of the Redeemer, under the direction of Pastor John Thomas, began Hope for Atlanta to reach out to the city in which they serve. Tina Wade, the first director of Hope for Atlanta, grew HOPE to include links to many ministries in Atlanta. The Huntington Station Apartments ministry began with relationships that Tina Wade developed with several Latino families. Tina now works in a ministry in Guatemala. Jennie Kurth took over the position of administrator and selected Angela Campbell to be the program director. Angela has done a wonderful job creating a place that many people from churches can develop relationships with Latinos through several programs. Tim Campbell, Angela’s husband, took over Jennie’s work as the administrator besides working with the middle school kids at HOPE and as Operations Director at Atlanta Intercultural Ministres. Our hope is that through these programs and relationships at HFA, many Latinos will come to Christ, to know Him personally.
