During this New Year, 2008, we are very thankful for all that God is doing in our lives. We are thankful that our two sons, David and Marcos, are maturing in life. David is just finishing his first semester at Covenant College in Lookout Mountain, Georgia, where he has found that he has an interest in psychology and the Bible. We happy to see his interest in the things of God coupled with a strong interest in Mexico. Marcos is doing well as a junior at Lakeside High School. He earned a black belt in ‘ninja,’ helps us with the Kids Club on Friday afternoons, and plays soccer at school and with the Alma Fuerte soccer club. Angela and I are continuing to follow God’s call to serve Latinos in Atlanta with Hope for Atlanta. The most significant news is that Atlanta Intercultural Ministries (AIM) will be going out of ‘business’ at the end of February, 2008. As AIM’s Emergency Assistance coordinator for the past 12 years, Tim has served thousands of people who live up and down the Buford Highway corridor of Atlanta. Although overall funding for AIM has been dwindling over the past three years, in just the past three months the food pantry alone has served more than 850 persons every month. It seems there has never been as much need as there is now. Because of the downturn in the economy as well as less demand for construction and landscaping work, some families we know of who don’t have any food in their houses. We are grateful for one recent large donation that we used to restock the Pantry just after Thanksgiving. We know that the Lord is in control of all things, including our own situation. Our hope is that each one of these needy ones will turn to the Lord and trust Him, just as we are doing. He is faithful! We are excited about the wonderful things God is doing through Hope for Atlanta! Please read Hope for Atlanta’s latest news included with this letter. After February, we still plan on helping families, but on an individual family basis connected with the Hope for Atlanta community center. Therefore, we will still need food donations. In order for us to follow God’s calling in our lives, we are trusting Him for $5,000.00 per month** in order to sustain Hope for Atlanta and our family. Would you pray with us that God will provide? We know there are many interested in the work we are doing, and we thank everyone who has contributed this past year. Please pray that God will bring those people and churches to us quickly. Tim, Angela, David and Marcos Cast your cares on the LORD and he will sustain you; he will never let the righteous fall. Psalm 55:22 |
